Tehran, - Human rights activist and Nobel peace prizer winner Shirin Ebadi's lawyer has been sentenced to six years in prison, the Herana website reports.
A revolutionary court in the Iranian capital Tehran jailed prominent attorney Mohammad Seif-zadeh for endangering state security, propaganda against the Islamic Republic and organising anti-government protests.
Seif-zadeh is currently being held in Tehran's Evin prison where he serving a previous two-year jail term for 'criticising the Islamic Republic'.
He is one of the co-founders of the Centre for the Defence of Human Rights in Iran and played a role in organising the reformist campaign for the contested 2009 elections that returned hardline president Mohammed Ahmadinejad to a second term of office.
Besides Ebadi, Seif-Zadeh has defended various political activists and dissidents and has criticised Iran's judiciary.
