December 16, 2013: For the very first time, a prisoner in Ho Chi Minh City was executed by lethal injection.Tran Quoc Tuan, 36, from District 8 of Ho Chi Minh City, who was charged for robbery and the murder of Nguyen Thanh Duy, a motorbike taxi driver, was put to death by lethal injection on December 16 after the verdict was pronounced by the People’s Court and subsequent appeal in the Supreme Court.
Tuan is the first prisoner to be executed by lethal injection in Ho Chi Minh City.
